If you ever wondered what Pac-Man would look like as a first-person horror game, BREAKOUT BABY has a pretty disturbing answer. Assemble Entertainment and indie developer STH have announced this bizarre horror roguelike, which puts players in the strange position of protecting an unlucky baby while navigating monster-filled mazes. It is currently scheduled to launch on Steam and itch.io in 2026, so make sure to keep an eye out.

A demo for BREAKOUT BABY is also available on both platforms, giving players a chance to experience its unusual mix of arcade-style maze gameplay, survival horror, and roguelike mechanics.

The goal of the game sounds simple enough: collect every pellet scattered throughout each floor and reach the exit. The problem is that the maze is full of grotesque creatures that can stalk, hunt, and ambush you at any moment. Making matters worse, collecting pellets creates enough noise to attract even more unwanted attention.

Players can also pick up strange gifts that can dramatically change the course of a run. The baby itself has an unusual trick, too. Shaking the baby can reveal the locations of nearby enemies, although the developers clearly know how strange that mechanic sounds.

BREAKOUT BABY takes the familiar formula of classic maze-chase arcade games and throws it into a terrifying first-person setting. Instead of simply avoiding colorful ghosts, players must survive unpredictable monsters while keeping Junior alive.

The game should appeal to fans of roguelikes, arcade survival games, and creature-focused horror, especially those looking for something completely different

It is definitely one of the strangest horror concepts we’ve seen lately, but that weirdness might be exactly what makes BREAKOUT BABY worth keeping an eye on.
