The agency in charge of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is encouraging disabled people to take part in “experience testing” of a new needs assessment tool, without clearly disclosing that their personal data may be used to train an algorithm that cuts their funding.
A spokesperson for the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) declined to respond to questions from Crikey about whether the data will train a budget algorithm designed to slash NDIS costs, but said in a statement that “participants can withdraw their consent at any time”.
