You’d think the prime minister had quoted Chairman Mao, such has been the meltdown over Anthony Albanese quoting the Barefoot Investor in question time in response to Angus Taylor’s claim that Labor’s tax changes had “tanked the housing market”.

“‘Average house prices have increased by more than 400% since 2000, partly on the back of taxpayer-funded landlord welfare’,” read Albanese, quoting a Herald Sun op-ed from personal finance author Scott Pape, who’s spent months lambasting negative gearing.
