Fans going to Georgia football's opening game on Saturday will want to prepare now for the heat.
Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Ashley Kramlich says Saturday could be the hottest home opener on record.
The temperature is expected to be 97 degrees when Georgia and Tennessee State kick off at 3 p.m. If it gets that high, it would break the record of 96 degrees set during the 1911 and 1933 home openers.
The heat will stay with us throughout the week with highs in the mid-90s with a brief break on Labor Day with showers and storms moving in. But the heat returns right back in the middle of next week.
