Clear River Games has officially unveiled Ninja JaJaMaru: Yokai Night Parade, a brand-new hack-and-slash action RPG that revives the classic ninja franchise with a bold 90s-inspired twist. Developed alongside Japanese publisher and developer City Connection, the game is coming soon to Steam, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5.
Serving as the spiritual successor to Ninja JaJaMaru: The Great Yokai Battle, the new entry blends fast-paced ninja combat with a vibrant world where traditional Japanese yokai folklore collides with 90s hip-hop culture. The result is a colorful, rhythm-filled adventure that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly modern.
Players will dash through platforming stages, perform classic aerial stomps, and chain together stylish melee combos using a variety of unique weapons. For those who prefer fighting from a distance, the game also features unlimited ranged attacks, each with its own distinct animations and playstyle. Combat becomes even flashier with nine powerful ultimate abilities, and players can upgrade every skill through five different tiers.
The announcement also marks the launch of the game’s Steam store page, while Ninja JaJaMaru: Yokai Night Parade is set to make its first public showcase during the Pixel Arcadia digital event on August 24. Visitors attending gamescom will also get an early hands-on experience with a playable demo at Clear River Games’ booth.
With its energetic art style, nostalgic soundtrack, and stylish combat, Ninja JaJaMaru: Yokai Night Parade looks like a promising comeback for the beloved retro series and one worth keeping an eye on.
