Madonna’s Confessions II era is truly the gift that keeps on giving.
After rave reviews, a number one placement on both sides of the Atlantic and two UK chart hits (so far!), last week the Like A Prayer singer kept the fun going with the news that she and fellow pop diva Kylie Minogue had recorded a remixed version of the Confessions II cut Love Sensation.
Released last week, the duet marks the singer’s first official collaboration after sharing the stage during the Queen of Pop’s Celebration tour back in 2024.
And speaking of celebrations, the Official Charts Company revealed in its “first-look” preview on Sunday evening that the new version of Love Sensation is currently on track to peak at number eight in this week’s chart.
Now, admittedly, we have to assume that this is based on physical pre-sales of the single’s CD format, meaning that unless it can keep up streams in the days ahead, this position is likely to drop before the chart is announced.
However, it’s still likely that Love Sensation could join the Sabrina Carpenter collab Bring Your Love and the surprise hit Danceteria in becoming Madonna’s third UK top 40 of her current album cycle.
Kylie, of course, has been enjoying a chart resurgence of her own in the last few years.
After the huge success of Padam Padam, the lead single from her Tension album, Kylie made a return to the top of the charts when she bagged last year’s Christmas number one with her original song XMAS.
Madonna’s most recent UK top 10 was a feature on The Weeknd’s 2023 single Popular, taken from the ill-fated TV drama The Idol, while the last time she managed this feat as a lead artist was in 2009, with the lead single from her Celebration hits collection.
Unsurprisingly, meanwhile, Sam Fender and Olivia Dean’s Rein Me In looks poised for a 21st week at the top spot, after smashing the record for the longest ever UK number one last month.
