During a show at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Aug. 29, singer Harry Styles appeared to make a quick quip about his ex Taylor Swift, who married NFL player Travis Kelce at the storied arena in July.
“From the Madison Square Garden, home of the world champion New York Knicks,” Styles says, shown in a video that captured the musician’s comment on stage. “They also do weddings!”
Fans, understandably, went wild as the video captures a roar from the audience shortly after Styles’ comment.
The show was part of Styles’ 30-concert residency at the Garden, entitled the “Together, Together” tour, which kicked off on Aug. 26. He is currently promoting his most recent album, “Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally,” which came out in March.
The venue just happens to be the site of the high-profile wedding between Swift and Kelce, which took place over the July 4 weekend and was attended by the likes of Tom Hanks and Jennifer Lopez. Their nuptials, according to a statement from the pair’s representatives sent to NBC News, were officiated by friend and comedian Adam Sandler. Instead of a traditional wedding party, Swift had her brother Austin Swift serve as the “man of honor,” while Kelce’s sibling Jason Kelce served as best man.
But more than a decade before the royal wedding, Swift and Styles, who fans lovingly referred to as “Haylor” at the time, were an item. They dated from late 2012 until early 2013. The two first met at the 2012 Kids Choice Awards. Rumors of their romance began to swirl in November 2012 when Swift was spotted, wearing a paper airplane necklace identical to that of Styles’. The next month, they were photographed walking around New York’s Central Park together.
The romance lasted just a few months with the pair breaking things off in January 2013. However, the two have seemingly stayed cordial over the years. And fans suspect that the relationship was the inspiration behind a few songs off of Swift’s album “1989,” including “Style” and “Is It Over Now?”
Styles is now reportedly engaged to actor Zoë Kravitz, though the couple has not publicly confirmed the news. During the opening night of Styles’ MSG residency, fans spotted Kravitz in the crowd. And the singer was filmed, giving her a thumbs up.
