CALGARY – Two people are facing dozens of charges after multiple Calgary-area Costco stores reported being defrauded of more than $30,000.
Police allege that between April 9 and June 30 a woman repeatedly used fraudulent or altered bar codes with lower prices to buy high-value electronics, including desktop computers, TVs, gaming consoles and sound equipment.
They allege a man acted as an accomplice in making the fraudulent transactions.
Officers searched a home in the city earlier this month and found more than 300 grams of suspected methamphetamine, digital scales and packaging materials consistent with drug trafficking.
Police also found several items used for forgery and fraud, including credit card scanners and skimming devices.
Police say a 41-year-old woman faces 70 charges and a 39-year-old man faces 119 offences.
