Off the pad to square, not sure whose call that is but they go, and Hasan Mahmud at square leg gathers and pings at the non-striker’s end. It’s off target but fast and flat, and Mehidy opts to put his leg in the way in an effort to deflect the ball onto the stumps. I think if he’d been in position there with his hands, and lunged towards the stumps afterwards, he would still have beaten Lyon’s lunge home. As it is, Mehidy only gets a fat bruise on the back of his calf, and the ball goes nowhere near the target.
