GR Craze

Toyota’s reinvention when it comes to igniting driving passion has been long in the making. Gazoo Racing’s (GR) role in pushing the brand forward has become a huge part of Toyota’s current and future appeal, led by racing fanatic Akio Toyoda.

As such, GR wasn’t only reserved for high-performance cars, but support and parts have also trickled down to other models. One example is the announcement of a full GR kit for the Toyota Harrier SUV in Japan.

Harrier GR Kit

The current Harrier is already in its fourth generation and is one of the top-selling models in Japan. It makes sense, then, that it would get further support to try to get more customers by introducing the GR Parts Kit. The kit itself is extensive and comprises over 16 different individual pieces.

What makes the kit even more incredible is that it isn’t all about the looks; this GR Kit does have some performance upgrades. Since the kit can also be bought individually or as a whole, customers can just cherry-pick which parts they want. The one and only performance-enhancing upgrade deals with ride comfort and handling; buyers can get the Front and Rear GR Performance Damper, which, according to Toyota, “achieves a high level of balance between passenger comfort and handling stability at high speeds.” GR Performance Dampers are listed at 99,000 Yen or ($621 converted).

Harrier = Venza

Aesthetics are also a huge part of this kit, and it comes as no surprise that you can change the overall look by adding a front spoiler, front bumper garnish, side skirts, rear bumper spoiler with a sports muffler, and 20-inch aluminum wheels. If you want to personify GR even more, there are additional GR body stripes, a GR backdoor spoiler, GR Sport side visors, door handle protectors, and license plate holders. If you want to purchase the Aero kit as a whole, you can also do that for a total of 413,000 Yen ($2,800 converted).

Unfortunately, the chances of getting GR Parts for the Harrier in the U.S. are likely very low. This is because the last time the model was sold in North America was back in 2024, when it was sold as the Venza. It was killed off because it was cannibalizing sales with the popular RAV4; Toyota opted to move up to the premium market by putting the Crown Insignia in its place.
