The quick commerce battleground is rapidly moving beyond last-minute groceries and household staples. In a move to capture the lucrative impulse-buying and gifting market, Swiggy Instamart announced a strategic partnership with global lifestyle retailer MINISO on Friday.
Consumers in key metropolitan cities can now order over 90 MINISO products, ranging from quirky stationery to officially licensed pop-culture merchandise, and have them delivered in just 10 minutes.
The collaboration marks MINISOâs first foray into the quick commerce space in India. The initial catalogue rollout heavily targets Gen Z and millennial shoppers by focusing on MINISOâs highly popular, IP-led merchandise.
Fans of globally recognised franchises can now instantly purchase products featuring characters from Harry Potter, Hello Kitty, My Melody, Kuromi, BT21, and Disneyâs Stitch.
The assortment spans multiple categories, including:
By placing these highly visual, emotionally driven products on a platform designed for instant gratification, Instamart is effectively turning its dark stores into digital mall storefronts, minus the wait typically associated with lifestyle and accessory shopping.
For Instamart, the integration of MINISO is a calculated step in its broader expansion into non-grocery categories, joining electronics, beauty, and toys.
âAt Instamart, we're constantly bettering our assortment to reflect how and what customers shop today,â said Gautam Swaroop, Chief Business Officer at Instamart.
âMINISO has created a unique space in the lifestyle category with products that are fun, functional, design-led, and accessible. By bringing the brand to Instamart, we're giving customers the convenience of getting these favourites delivered to their doorsteps while continuing to build a more comprehensive everyday shopping destination,â Swaroop added.
The partnership also highlights a shifting distribution playbook for global physical retailers.
Facilitated by Opptra, MINISO's digital commerce distribution partner in India, the launch enabled the retailer to leverage quick-commerce logistics for rapid market penetration without relying solely on traditional mall footfall.
Charmaine Chan, Vice General Manager of MINISO India, emphasised the emotional connection of the brand's catalogue.
âFrom well-designed, high-quality, and value-for-money lifestyle products to IP collaborations and collectable toys that bring joy, comfort, and emotional connection, MINISO continues to make everyday life more fun and inspiring,â Chan said. âThrough our partnership with Opptra, we look forward to bringing MINISO closer to more consumers across India with greater speed and convenience.â
While currently available in key metros, Instamart and MINISO plan to aggressively expand their product catalogues and city availability over the coming months.
