Citroen has started September with an interesting teaser for the Aircross and Basalt X. The two SUVs have appeared as dark silhouettes on the company’s website with the line “Value For Money Like You’ve Never Seen Before”. There are no clear details yet, but the message gives a fair idea about what Citroen may be planning. New value-focused variants are expected for both SUVs, with more useful features at a lower price point.
The new versions are expected to arrive in September. Citroen has not confirmed their names, prices or equipment list yet.
The new trims could sit between the entry-level and higher variants. Citroen may bring features that are currently available only on more expensive versions.
The Basalt X could be priced at around Rs 9 lakh, ex-showroom. The Aircross X may sit between Rs 9.30 lakh and Rs 9.40 lakh, ex-showroom. These figures are expected prices and have not been confirmed by Citroen.
Comfort Edition already gave a similar idea
Citroen had earlier introduced Comfort Editions for both SUVs. The Basalt X Comfort Edition was priced at Rs 8.75 lakh, while the Aircross X was launched at Rs 9.09 lakh, ex-showroom.

The Aircross version received beige upholstery and adjustable front and rear headrests. Buyers could also add features such as wireless charging, a larger touchscreen, a rear camera and JBL audio through accessory packs.
The new trims may use a similar approach, but the exact package is still not known.
There is no information about mechanical upgrades at this stage. Both SUVs use Citroen’s 1.2-litre petrol engine options.
The turbo-petrol engine is available with both manual and automatic transmissions.
The new variants also come at a time when Citroen needs better numbers in India. The Aircross recorded 45 units in July 2026, while the Basalt managed 29 units. The C3 hatchback sold 680 units during the same month.
The brand has also set a target of around 2,000 units per month, so there is still a large gap.
Better equipment and aggressive pricing could help the two SUVs attract more buyers. However, showroom reach and brand awareness are also important factors.
Citroen is yet to reveal the full details of the new Aircross and Basalt X variants. The teaser points towards a stronger value package, but the actual prices and features will decide how attractive these versions are.
