India has categorically rejected the award of interim measures and the status of the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) by the Hague Arbitration Court, the Ministry of External Affairs said.

The foreign ministry said India has never recognised the existence of the Court of Arbitration on the IWT.

"India categorically rejects award of interim measures and status of Indus Waters Treaty by Hague Arbitration Court," the ministry said.

The ministry reiterated that India's decision to hold the IWT in abeyance remains in force. "India never recognised existence of Court of Arbitration on Indus Waters Treaty," it said.

The remarks come amid the ongoing dispute over the status of the IWT and the proceedings before the Hague-based arbitration mechanism.
