The gaming hardware company’s new game controller folds in half to make it easier to take with you.
Razer has been making mobile game controllers for a few years now, but the new $100 Prio ultracompact controller could be its most portable yet. Whereas prior controllers like the Razer Kishi are so large that they need to be in a tote bag, the Prio folds up so it can fit inside a pocket.
That on the go convenience could be a selling point for this controller on its own. Standard mobile controllers help make your phone transform into a gaming handheld, but they’re typically not pocket-size. And if you’re already carrying a bag for a controller, you might as well bring a full-size Nintendo Switch 2 or a Steam Deck.
Razer says the Prio weighs 101 grams, roughly the same as a bar of soap. When folded, the controller almost resembles a small wallet. When unfolded, Razer says it can attach to larger phones like Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro Max and Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra.
The gaming controller connects directly over USB-C and includes a full-size controller layout with two thumbsticks, a four-way D-pad, face buttons and shoulder button triggers — similar to most video game console controllers.
Razer’s Prio is launching just as Samsung and Google have finished unveiling the rest of their Galaxy and Pixel phone lineups for 2026, and as we await Apple’s Sept. 9 event that’s expected to focus on higher-end iPhone models like a rumored iPhone 18 Pro Max and a folding iPhone Ultra. The Razer Prio is compatible with both iPhone and Android mobile devices.
This tiny mobile gaming controller comes as consoles keep getting more expensive due to the ongoing memory shortage driving up the cost of electronics. Nintendo’s Switch 2 just rose $50 to $500, Microsoft’s Xbox Series X with a disc drive is now $800 ($300 more than its $500 launch price) , and Sony’s PlayStation 5 with a disc drive is now $650 ($150 more than its $500 launch price).
With prices like these, it could be a lot more affordable to get a portable controller to game on a phone instead of owning a video game console.
