The transfer window has slammed shut for another summer as clubs scrambled to get their business done ahead of the deadline on Tuesday evening.
Premier League sides were working up to and beyond 11pm BST on September 1 to bolster their squads as best as they could before the cut-off, although some clubs have needed deal sheets to complete some moves that have taken a bit long to seal.
However, the deadline has come down on another window, and teams can no longer add to their rosters until next January, unless they sign free agents, who can be picked up outside the regulated transfer periods.
It has been a summer of heavy spending in England’s top flight, with the transfer record for a British player smashed twice by Manchester City and then Chelsea for Elliot Anderson and Morgan Rogers respectively.
Liverpool then came along and blew both those deals out of the water by landing Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain for £123million, outdoing City’s £116m move for Anderson and the £117m Chelsea paid to Aston Villa for Rogers.
Arsenal were done with their business early, bringing in Christos Tzolis, Bruno Guimaraes, Ezri Konsa and Illan Meslier.
Manchester United signed Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos, Karl Darlow and Carlos Baleba in Michael Carrick’s first window at the helm, while Chelsea have signed the likes of Pep Chavarria, Maxence Lacroix, Valentin Barco, Jordan Henderson, Danny Welbeck, Emi Martinez, and Geovany Quenda to strengthen Xabi Alonso’s side.
The January window will open on Friday, January 1, 2027 and close at 11pm GMT on Monday, February 1, 2027.
