Emmerdale actress Claire King has said it was “heartbreaking” to see Olivia Bromley leave the soap.
Bromley played Dawn Fletcher, the step daughter of King’s Kim Tate, on the ITV soap for eight years until her character was killed off in Tuesday night’s episode following a dramatic car crash.
In the episode, Dawn’s wedding day to Joe Tate ended in disaster, including the death of Jimmy King after his vehicle hit the marquee, trapping the newly-weds.
After being rushed to the hospital Dawn went into premature labour, giving birth to a baby boy.
However a string of complications led to a crash team rush in in an attempt to resuscitate Dawn however unfortunately she did not make it.
Speaking about their final scene, King told a press roundtable that she was “very sad about” Bromley’s departure.
“But we did have a good laugh that week because we were all outside this massive marquee where we were doing all the the wedding stuff and car crash, and it’s all supposed to be tragic but we were all actually having a good life.
“We had some really nice people on on set that day. Great crew, and it was just a bit of camaraderie.
“But I could see as the days went on to the final day she was getting more and more sort of angst and things.”
King said despite giving her a good send off, it was still very sad to lose somebody that is very close to your “inner circle” and that you work with on a daily basis.
