A ground-breaking ceremony will take place this Thursday ahead of the development of a new £1.5m tennis centre at Galashiels Academy.
The facility is being delivered as part of the Transforming Scottish Indoor Tennis (TSIT) project run by the LTA, LTA Tennis Foundation, sportscotland and Tennis Scotland.
The community facility has received just over £1.5 million from the TSIT fund to develop three covered tennis courts and two covered padel courts in partnership with Scottish Borders Council, enhancing the recently completed £64million Galashiels school campus.

The scheme – which also includes two covered padel courts – is aimed at filling geographical gaps in provision across the country.
Galashiels Academy will be the fourth TSIT venue after facilities at Oriam in Edinburgh, Moray Sports Centre in Elgin and the King George V sports complex in Dumfries.
The new centre is earmarked to open early next year.
