Jady Cristine Pereira Rosa had lived in Limerick for several years.
The siblings of a young woman whose body was found at an apartment complex in Limerick City have said she was living the “Brazilian dream of living in Europe”.
Brazilian national Jady Cristine Pereira Rosa, who was in her 30s, was found unresponsive and wounded in her apartment at the Carlton House complex on Cecil Street at approximately 7.30am on Friday.
Sources say she was found injured and unresponsive and died at the scene.
Originally from Sorocaba, a city in the state of São Paulo, she had been living in Limerick for a number of years.
Her brother told the Irish Examiner: “We are still in shock about what is happening. I never imagined that I would have to go through such an ordeal.”
He said Jady was living the “Brazilian dream of living in Europe”.
“She always helped everyone who was here in Brazil as much as she could. She never spared any effort to make my mother happy,” he said. “She will be missed forever. Unfortunately, we didn’t even get the chance to say goodbye”.
Gardaí investigate circumstances of death
Gardaí have said the results of a post-mortem examination "will determine the nature of the investigation".
A Garda spokesperson said the State pathologist had been notified and examination of the scene was ongoing by members of the Garda Technical Bureau.
It is understood gardaí are gathering CCTV footage from the apartment block and surrounding area, as well as speaking to residents.
Sources told the Irish Examiner that friends of Jady raised the alarm after she failed to meet them for work on Friday morning, as was their usual routine.
After failing to hear from her, they alerted gardaí at Henry Street Garda station, which is close to Cecil Street.
She is understood to have worked for a cleaning company based in Co Limerick and was heavily involved in community events in the city.
