One person is dead following a collision involving a transport truck and a passenger vehicle Wednesday night on Highway 401 at Gananoque.

Just before 10 p.m. on Aug. 19, officers from the Leeds County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police were notified of a collision on the 401 near County Road 2.

According to an OPP news release on Aug. 20, an initial investigation indicated that the eastbound truck had crossed over the grassy centre median and hit a westbound vehicle head-on.

The driver of the westbound vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver and a passenger in the truck were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The OPP was continuing to investigate, and anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dash camera video from the area around the time of the incident was asked to contact the Leeds County detachment at 1-888-310-1122.
