After falling in the final at the Ontario Junior Elimination Baseball Tournament, the Selects advanced to this year’s Baseball Canada’s Junior Championship in Tecumseh as the second seed from the province.
It was a similar path to the one taken a year ago by the Selects in Dartmouth, N.S. that ended with a title and Windsor again reached the top of the podium on Sunday after a 5-0 win over Manitoba in the gold-medal final at Lacasse Park.
“Both teams were solid for sure,” Selects’ catcher Lucas Laprise said in comparing this year’s Windsor team to a year ago “This year, we had some tougher games. Last year, we went undefeated and this year was a tougher road, but we made it work. Both years we got the job done.”
