TOKYO — In an unusual move, the Bank of Japan is sending policy board member Naoki Tamura to this week's Jackson Hole Economic Symposium in the U.S. rather than Gov. Kazuo Ueda or deputy governors, dampening speculation that there will be any statement about the future direction of interest rates.
