Yesterday, Microsoft confirmed that it will introduce monthly caps on Xbox Cloud Gaming streams in November.

Just one day later, in a questionably timed announcement, the company says it’s bringing Xbox Cloud Gaming to TCL smart TVs “in the coming months.” Given that vague time frame, it would certainly seem that it would roll out around the same time, if not after, Microsoft begins limiting game streaming.

Come November, Xbox Game Pass members will be allotted up to 15 hours of streaming per month depending on their membership. Microsoft says you’ll be able to buy additional hours of cloud gaming time, but exact pricing and availability will be confirmed in November.

Normally, a service coming to more platforms would be a good thing. After all, TCL joins the likes of Samsung, LG and Amazon as TV makers that support Xbox Cloud Gaming.

But Microsoft’s announcement from only yesterday rather takes the wind out of the sails of the TCL news. And given that Xbox itself confirmed that only about four per cent of people will be affected by the new monthly caps, it would seem that overall usage of Xbox Cloud Gaming is pretty low, anyway.
