Why did the Ottawa Redblacks decide on a presidential change in the middle of the CFL season?

During a record-setting run of ineptness, the Ottawa Redblacks have dumped veteran players, canned their defensive co-ordinator and now have announced that a change will be made in the leadership.

But to say Adrian Sciarra was fired as team president on Monday isn’t accurate.

“Adrian fell on his sword,” said Mark Goudie, the president/CEO of Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group, which owns the Redblacks, after it was announced that Sciarra will make the transition to focusing solely on his duties as president and alternate governor of the Ottawa 67’s.

“I think in this business, everything’s code for something else. But in this case, the impetus for what happened today came from Adrian a couple of weeks back, and I think that’s noble. It’s been difficult on him over these last couple of years, and I’m happy to have him continue as an important member of our executive group and our team here at OSEG.
