Island adventure: Peche Island Day offers a free getaway on the Detroit River Saturday, Aug. 15, with boat rides from Lakeview Park Marina (9349 Riverside Dr. E.) to the island beginning at 10 a.m. Take part in educational activities and join city staff for guided hikes to the ruins at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. or 12:30 p.m. The final boat leaves for the island at 1 p.m., with all visitors required to return by 2 p.m. Reservations are encouraged. Block party: Dropped on Drouillard returns to the 1000 block of Drouillard Road on Saturday, Aug. 15 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., bringing the community together for a full day of music, food, art and entertainment. The street festival celebrates the spirit of Ford City with live performances, skateboarding, local vendors and plenty of food and drink.
Classic rock: Enjoy a free evening of classic rock in Leamington on Saturday as Mystic Highway: A Creedence Clearwater Revival and John Fogerty Tribute, take the stage at the Sunset Amphitheatre in Seacliff Park as part of the Music Onthe42 Summer Concert Series. Presented in partnership with The Bank Theatre, free outdoor concert begins at 7:30 p.m. with opening act Denis “Denny” Bastarache, followed by headliner Mystic Highway. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. Refreshments will be available for purchase on-site. LT-GO Transit will provide extended service until 11 p.m.
Garden party: The Windsor Centre for Film, Digital Media & the Creative Arts holds its 10th annual Garden Party on the Patio August 19, at 664 Victoria Avenue from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event raises funds for youth programs, including the Film Camp for Kids and Youth.

Country on the block: The last Kingsville Block Party of the summer, Country Night” Goes Saturday from 5 p.m to 10 p.m. The events features music, food, vendors and a petting zoo. The evening takes place at the Kingsville Centre, at the intersection of King, Chestnut, and Walnut Streets. Live music includes:
Compass Rose at 5 p.m., Messing Around Band at 6:30 p.m., line dancing tutorials with the Travelling Dance floor at 5:30 and 615 p.m. and Slim Pickerel at 8 p.m. Admission is free.
Scrub a dub: Tembo Wash Day returns to the Windsor Sculpture Park (2385 Riverside Dr. W.) on Saturday, Aug. 15, inviting families to help give the riverfront’s iconic elephant sculpture and her baby elephants their annual bath. The free event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with warm, soapy water and supplies provided. Families can also enjoy a special performance by entertainer, puppeteer and musician Mathew Roman at 11 a.m.
Poolside flick: Make a splash with Shark Tale at a Dive-In Movie Night at Lanspeary Pool (1250 Langlois Ave.) on Sunday, Aug. 16. Presented in partnership with the Windsor International Film Festival, the 5 p.m. screening lets moviegoers float, swim or relax in the pool while watching the animated favourite on the big screen.
