We Investigated Revolve’s Viral Trash Bag Top So You Don’t Have To

A $450 Paris Georgia top is going viral for all the wrong reasons, as TikTokers ask whether Revolve is selling fashion or a trash bag.

One of the things that stopped our TikTok scroll this week: a Revolve ad for a $450 top that, at first glance, looks remarkably like a black trash bag. And apparently, we weren't the only ones who saw it.

Search “Revolve trash bag” on TikTok and you’ll find plenty of people debating the controversial top.

“I swear Revolve is rage-baiting us,” said one TikToker.

“Please tell me we're getting punked with this outfit,” said another. “There’s no way this is not a garbage bag.”

The garment in question is the Paris Georgia Liquid Top, which normally retails for a cool $450 at Revolve, though it’s currently marked down to $153. There’s a matching skirt, too, in case you’re going for the full Hefty-chic look.

And Revolve shoppers haven’t exactly rushed to its defense.

One reviewer gave the top a single star and seemingly confirmed what the internet is claiming: “It’s a trash bag.”

Paris Georgia describes the top somewhat differently. Made from the brand’s “signature Liquid fabrication,” its high-shine acetate fabric is intended to create a “liquid-like appearance,” while ruching and soft tucks give it a draped, off-the-shoulder silhouette.

For anyone sold on the look, there is some good news: the top is currently even cheaper directly from Paris Georgia, at $86, and it's also available in a "dusty pink" color.

This controversial 100% acetate top is setting the internet on fire for its unique appearance.

Like the $2,000 Balenciaga bag that directly resembled Ikea's 99 cent tote, there have been quite a few iconic and questionable viral items in recent years.

According to Birkenstock, the Opéra sandal channels the poetry of ballet through elegant, fluid lines. Long laces wrap gracefully around the ankle like a dancer’s ribbon, while smooth Nappa leather, delicate textile trim, and a subtle bow detail evoke Repetto’s iconic dance aesthetic. The internet is still deciding.

Once reviled, these split-toe ballet flats (made famous by the Maison Margiela Tabi) have now gone mainstream. Steve Madden makes a pair in a few colors!
