Publisher Cooldown Games and developer Frozenbyte have announced the side-scrolling puzzle platformer, Trine 6: Together in Time, has been delayed from September 17 to March 4, 20217. It will launch for the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.

"Thank you to everyone who signed up for, played, and shared feedback during our recent Private Playtest," said Cooldown Games and Frozenbyte in an update. "With your help, we now have a much clearer picture of what’s working and where Trine 6 has room to improve.

"We will be taking some extra time to add a whole new way to experience puzzles throughout the game, giving our heroes more ways to shine, and improving combat, camera behavior, onboarding, and online multiplayer systems.

"We know this means waiting a little longer, but we’re confident that the extra time will let us act on what we heard and ultimately create a better adventure for longtime fans, players discovering Trine for the first time, and everyone in between."

That’s a shame. I was really looking forward to this, but hopefully it helps the game meet expectations.

There are 6 of these!? Last I heard was 4 and even that seemed like a lot. I liked 1-2 but I don't think I see the appeal of an indie series going on for this long. Novelty is a large part of their appeal.

3 was a flawed 3D experiment. 4 and 5 did enough differently while returning to strengths. I was genuinely really looking forward to 6. The games are cheap enough and there’s no real competition in the sub genre.

Still things remaining for the team to try out that has people interested.
