The Umo system will launch Oct. 5, allowing riders to use a mobile app to reload funds, manage fares for multiple people and access trip planning and real-time transit information.

For riders who don’t want to use a smartphone, reloadable Umo cards will be available for a one-time $6 fee. Transit Windsor will also continue accepting exact cash for fares.

“The rollout of Umo is an important step in modernizing how riders interact with Transit Windsor, while ensuring flexibility remains in place, said James Chacko, executive director of Transit Windsor. “Whether customers choose to manage their account through the app, use a reloadable card, or pay with cash, this system is designed to provide options that meet a range of needs.”

Transit Windsor will spend the seven weeks leading up to the launch introducing riders to the new system.

Staff will hold demonstrations and provide assistance at transit terminals, high schools, post-secondary institutions and community partner locations. Online resources and information sessions will also be available.
