Brr…is it cold in here? Because with Bring It On marking its 26th anniversary, there must be some secrets from Kirsten Dunst and Gabrielle Union's beloved cheerleading flick in the atmosphere.
They're sexy, they're cute and 26 years later, Kirsten Dunst, Gabrielle Union and the rest of the Bring It On cast are still popular to boot as evidenced by the reception they received when reuniting for a screening last September.
Directed by Peyton Reed and written by Jessica Bendinger, the film featured The Virgin Suicides lead and the She's All That star as captains of rival California cheerleading squads. And it earned its trophy at the box office when it premiered Aug. 25, 2000, as audiences quickly learned the immensely quotable comedy was the poo and they needed to take a big whiff.
For several weeks after, there were, indeed, some Toros and Clovers in the atmosphere as the movie—which also featured Eliza Dushku, Lindsay Sloane, Clare Kramer, Jesse Bradford and the members of R&B girl group Blaque—continued to dominate.
A quarter-century later, not only has the MTV Movie Award nominee spawned six direct-to-video and TV sequels, it's endured as a cult classic proving this is not a democracy, it's a cheerocracy.
And the stars still have spirit for the film, yes they do.
Prior to the 2025 reunion, Dunst was on hand for a 2024 screening, telling those gathered at L.A.'s Hollywood Forever Cemetery, "This is the craziest thing I've ever witnessed in my life. I am so overwhelmed."
While she has some thoughts about where T-T-T-Torrance might be these days—"Coaching, maybe," she told E! News in 2024—she's not looking to slip into her spankies. As she put it to Entertainment Tonight last year, "I'm like, leave good things where they are."
Her costar, however, is bringing it, Union sharing her thoughts on a follow-up that will have fans cheering.
"We've been developing a sequel forever," Union told Variety in January 2023. "But for folks who don't exactly understand how long development can take in Hollywood, that could be five minutes or 50 years."
So while she'd never drop the spirit stick, she did release one hint.
"Hmmmm," she posted to X on the day of the film's 2022 anniversary, "so Isis might have a teenager #BringItOn."

2. Written by music video director Jessica Bendinger, the script was a hard sell and almost didn't get made. "I went to 28 or more places and meetings," she told MTV News in 2015. "I had about 27 pitches because sometimes I'd go to a studio and they'd love it and they'd take it to their boss and they go, 'We love it!' and take it their boss and then it would get a pass at the third time."
