Nearly two dozen social service programs will receive Topeka city funding in 2027.
The Topeka City Council on Sept. 1 approved distributing $491,904 for various social services.
The council unanimously approved the allocations. This comes after the United Way of Kaw Valley's grant review committee reviewed the applications and the Social Service Grant Committee provided recommendations to the council.
For the 2027 application process, 28 programs applied and 20 programs will receive funding. Following are programs that will receive funding and how much they will get.
Positive Connections will get $35,000 for the Medical Case Management and Emergency Assistance program.
Jayhawk Area Agency on Aging Inc. will get $26,460 for the Senior Health Insurance Counseling for Kansas program.
Mirror Inc. will get $24,500 for the Work for Success program.
Shawnee County Medical Society Foundation HealthAccess will get $49,000 for the Shawnee County Medical Society HealthAccess program.
Breakthrough House Inc. will get $25,920 for the Breakthrough House Residential Program.
Doorstep Inc. received funding for two programs. It will receive $13,920 for medical emergency services and $25,650 for the Rent and Utility Assistance program.
Florence Crittenton Services of Topeka Inc. will get $25,920 for the Outpatient Mental Health Clinic.
East Topeka Council on Aging Inc. will get $25,650 for the East Topeka Senior Center.
Papan's Landing Senior Center Inc. will get $25,380 for elderly services.
YWCA Northeast Kansas Center for Safety and Empowerment will get $25,380.
El Centro de Servicios Para Hispanos will get $18,600 for the Community Resource Program.
