Sorry dad, I wanted to spend a few months wandering the countryside and killing bandits
Why the rush, The Blood of Dawnwalker? Your protagonist Coen's family have only been kidnapped by a vampiric dictator who's slowly draining them of blood. Let the kid take his sweet time in finding a way to deliver them from the castle dungeon. After all, he's got a tonne of bandits he could be killing and other fun little adventures he could be stumbling across as he explores Vale Sangora. The good news for folks who don't like even the vague idea that they need to get a move on in their hero duties is that Dawnwalker's taken less than a day to get a mod which substantially lengthens its 30-day family saving timer.
As I've mentioned the the comments on my own Blood of Dawnwalker review, I haven't fond the 30-day timer a headache, managing to get to the point of having a few different final missions ready to go with eight or nine days to spare for a bit more exploration. Then again, that does come with the caveat that, as someone playing on a review deadline, I wasn't wasting much time getting to the next main objective in the early hours of Coen's adventure.
If even the mild threat that you might not be able to take things at the pace you want is enough to get on your wick, then it might be worth trying the freshly released 'Better Story Timer'. Pulled together remarkably rapidly by a prolific modder going by Caites, the mod stretches Dawnwalker's main quest time out to 90 days, tripling the time you've got to get your Brencis-battering pants on.
There's also an optional file which ensures applying the perk points you earn on levelling up doesn't come with any time cost, saving you time segments whenever you visit a shrine to improve your skills or unlock new abilities. The amount of time this takes depends on how many level up points you've got saved up whenever you decide to invest them, but improving a single perk or ability usually only costs one or two time segments. Not nothing, but not a massive time loss unless you've got a truckload of unspent points tucked in your backpack.
Caites has also developed a file which aims to stretch out the RPGs eight segment days and nights to a whopping 32 segments, which seems like overkill. They note this aspect of them hasn't been fully tested yet, so I'd leave it for now, especially since the 90-day boost the overall number of days sounds like it can be tweaked to whatever you fancy via the game's INI file, if you're comfortable messing with such things.
Naturally, all of this mucking about with a fairly central mechanic comes with the risk of causing issues in your playthrough. To me, it's worth at least giving the vanilla timer a go first, so you know for sure that Dawnwalker's default pace isn't for you.

Jeremy's even tried beating big baddie Brencis in the prologue, because he's made of sterner Souls game-tempered stuff than the rest of us.
