A shooting prompted a SWAT response on the city's Northwest Side on Friday night, Chicago police said.
Police said officers responded to a call about a person shot in the Hermosa neighborhood near North and Kolmar avenues just before 8 p.m.
A 28-year-old man was outside when he heard a loud noise, felt pain, and realized he had been shot in the shoulder, police said.
The Chicago Fire Department treated the victim on the scene before transporting him to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he is listed in fair condition.
The man told responding officers that he believed the shots were fired from an above apartment.
SWAT responded and cleared the scene without incident. No one is in custody, and no other injuries were reported.
Area Five detectives are investigating. Police did not immediately provide additional information.
