The Owens girls were in LA last night for the Hollywood premiere of Practical Magic 2. I’m just focusing here on Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, they are two major stars of this movie and in the industry overall, and what’s sending me today are the comments on social media about how they’ve been interacting during this press tour.
Here they are doing an interview with Variety, talking about how Practical Magic is big with the gays. That is a fact. But it’s not just Practical Magic. Both Sandy and Nicole are queer icons, have been allies to the queer community for a long time. Miss Congeniality is queer cinema. And Sandy just went viral last week with this moment from the London red carpet.

Back to the Variety interview though… and the comment section… and people on socials clocking that Sandy and Nicole are giving Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo during Wicked, LOL FOREVER.
And now… Sandy and Nicole have an opportunity here, at some point during this promo tour, to do something really healing and recreate that “holding space finger hold”. IT WILL CURE THE PLANET! Do it exactly the way it went down!

As I mentioned last week, Sandra is experiencing a Saturn style return, no longer working with Elizabeth Stewart, and collaborating with Leslie Fremar on their first major press tour. The results have been outstanding. She was in custom Louis Vuitton last night – dramatically huge white collar, cleavage plunge, velvet and snatched. She’s a preppy witch, she’s the prim priestess of magic, she is Sally Owens.

And then there’s Gillian. Nicole in the most Gillian dress – lacy and whimsy and uninhibited, the sensual sorceress, the wild witch. Also custom, only hers is Versace…and this is more than just a red carpet story, it’s a fashion story. Because of course Nicole would be the first to wear new Versace, as in Versace by Pieter Mulier, the house’s new creative director. Pieter’s first full Versace collection will not be shown until January so this look on Nicole is putting fashion insiders on notice. They still have to wait months until a clearer picture emerges about where he’s taking the house, and how he interprets the house code, but as Vogue points out, since the “most fan-girled piece of the summer” is the viral Versace skirt designed by his predecessor, Pieter designing a dress for THE Nicole Kidman definitely redirects the conversation. And for her, it’s a major flex, as usual. Not only because she gets to debut the Pieter Mulier Versace era but also because she’s officially a Chanel ambassador, and she has the clout to do a solid for another designer for another house and still keep her bag.
