Rosie O'Donnell reflected on filming a sex scene with close friend Cynthia Nixon in And Just Like That…, which she revealed was her second ever: "I'm like, 'Oh my God.'"
And just like that, Rosie O'Donnell found herself in an awkward situation.
The former talk show host—who guest-starred on And Just Like That… season three as a one-night stand for Cynthia Nixon's Miranda Hobbes—reflected on filming the sex scene for the Sex and the City revival with her longtime friend.
"[It was] horrifying to me because I was so nervous," O'Donnell explained in the Aug. 11 episode of the Good Hang with Amy Poehler podcast. "I love her and have so much respect for her."
She recalled show creator Michael Park King's decision to tap her as Sister Mary, a nun who broke her chastity vow to have sex with Miranda after meeting in a bar in 2025's season three premiere.
"She called me, and she's like, 'Ro, Michael Patrick wrote you a scene, and it's with me. Will you do it?'" the 64-year-old shared with Amy Poehler. "I said, 'Of course I'll do it with you.' Then, I read it, and I'm in bed with just the sheets. I'm like, 'Oh my God.'"
"The kissing wasn't hard," she added, "but the laying in bed and wanting us to act like we had just done it. I was like, 'Uhh.'"
As they navigated the scene, O'Donnell admitted that it was difficult to truly lean into the moment.
"Michael said, 'You guys can be a little bit more,'" she recalled. "And I'm thinking, 'I can't really.'"
"It's a skill. It really is," she emphasized. "But I’m a little immature when it comes to that."
Prior to her brief cameo on the HBO series, the comedian revealed that she had only ever acted in one other sex scene in her career: a woman Julian McMahon's Dr. Christian Troy had sex with in Nip/Tuck season four.
"He was such a gentleman," she told Poehler. "I had a tube top on and like little underpants. We're supposed to be naked and he's got a little c–k sock. He's leaning and his arms are shaking 'cause he doesn't want to put his body on mine."
"So, finally, after three takes they said, 'We keep seeing the tube top,'" she continued. "I looked at him and he's this gorgeous—God rest his soul—gorgeous Greek statue of a man."
Ultimately, the View alum decided to be brave and ditch her wardrobe.
"I pulled down my tube top, and I said, 'Julian, those are my boobs,'" she remembered. "And he said, 'Nice rack!'"
