Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit is only weeks away, but ahead of the conference, the company has unveiled some details about its upcoming flagship processor.
The GPU for the chipset is getting a huge update, starting with the addition of Adreno Matrix Cores, with Qualcomm suggesting that it has three of these cores. These cores are to run AI workloads locally with lower latency and improved power consumption. Qualcomm’s chipset already uses tech to accelerate AI workloads on the CPU, so Qualcomm is using these cores to help power Adreno Neural Fusion technology, offering reduced visual artifacts, like ghosting, more stable performance, and sharper detail. Qualcomm also claims it’ll boast up to 40 per cent power savings compared to last year’s generation.
Qualcomm confirmed that both Unreal Engine and Unity support the Adreno Neural Fusion. This chipset will offer a three-slice GPU architecture, with the Adreno GPU clocked at 1.45GHz, compared to the 1.2GHz on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The GPU also supports 18MB of Adreno High Performance Memory, which should offer a 12 per cent improvement in efficiency.
Qualcomm also announced that its next CPU is the first-ever to reach 5GHz. As someone who’s currently obsessed with the Galaxy Fold 8, and has been getting way more into mobile games like Tearscape, Slay the Spire and more, I’m excited for the update; it should make Samsung’s next slate of flagships perform even better.
