Lindsay Clancy's psychiatrist increased the dosage of her medication just one day before she strangled her children to death, jurors heard during a fiery day in her high-profile murder trial.
Dr Jennifer Tufts, a psychiatrist who treated Clancy and prescribed her multiple different medications in the four months leading up to the killings, returned to Plymouth County Superior Court in Massachusetts on Monday to face a grilling from Clancy’s defense.
During a combative and hours-long series of questions, Dr Tufts admitted that she had continued to prescribe Clancy more drugs in the lead-up to the killings – even as the mom-of-three voiced fears that the medications were making her more depressed.
Just eight days before the killings – on January 16, 2023 – the psychiatrist prescribed Clancy the antidepressant Amitriptyline.
That day, Clancy said she was numb and depressed and felt like the bonding with her baby was forced.
Then, on January 23, Dr Tufts saw Clancy for an appointment one final time. In that meeting, she increased her dosage of the drug.
Clancy’s attorney Kevin Reddington hit out at this decision with an impassioned line of questioning.
'That pushed her over the edge didn't it?' he said.

It was around 24 hours later when Clancy was accused of murdering her children – Cora, five, Dawson, three, and Callan, eight months – inside the family home in the wealthy coastal suburb of Duxbury.
On the evening of January 24, 2023, the former delivery nurse strangled the children with exercise bands in the basement, before she cut her own wrists and neck and jumped from a second-floor window in a suicide attempt.
The 35-year-old has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to three counts of first-degree murder, arguing she was suffering from severe postpartum depression and psychosis at the time.
The defense has argued that Clancy was severely overmedicated, having been prescribed 13 different medications from multiple providers in the four months before the killings.
Inside the packed courtroom on Monday morning, Dr Tufts faced a heated grilling from Clancy’s attorney about her treatment of the mom-of-three.
