Ahead of the Aug. 20 premiere of the fifth and final season of Netflix’s “Outer Banks,” the cast, who play a ragtag group of treasure-hunting teens, are reflecting on some behind-the-scenes treasures in their camera roll.

TODAY sat down with Chase Stokes, who stars as John B, Drew Starkey, who plays Rafe, and Jonathan Daviss, who portrays Pope, on Aug. 18. Each actor submitted one of their behind-the-scenes photos and shared the story behind it.

The first photo, sent in by Stokes, showed the three shadowed figures attempting (and for Daviss, admittedly failing) a jumping pose against a sunset-lit beach backdrop.

“I had about 30 of those photos, because we were trying to get it right, and that was the most awkward one,” Stokes explained.

For Starkey, his photo showed the morning after an impromptu cast bonding night from the beginning of the show’s journey. The cast found Stokes snug as a bug in a sleeping bag, sunglasses on.

“Funny story, our showrunner Jonas Pate put us together in the Chateau and said, ‘Just stay the night there, get to know each other,’ and we all crashed on the floor and couches, and little bedrooms, and we woke up in the morning and found Chase in that state,” Starkey said.

“I look like a little burrito!” Stokes chimed in, before giving the inside scoop on what led him to be in this position.

“The best part about it is that they did leave us with a couple cases of beer, and they didn’t tell me I had a screen test with cameras the next morning,” Stokes revealed. “So, they came with cameras, and they were like, ‘Alright, we’re just going to start shooting stuff,’ and I was like, ‘I am violently hungover and unwell.’”

For Daviss’ photo submission, the co-stars revisited an up-close and personal shot of Starkey in Croatia, where they filmed Season 5, and the photo left the three absolutely bursting with laughter.

“I have a bunch of these .5 photos I’ve taken of all the cast, and in that, Drew just looks pure evil,” Daviss said.

Still giggling, the boys challenge their cast mates, specifically upcoming TODAY guests Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey and Carlacia Grant and to send in their own photos.

“If they’re real, they’ll do it,” Daviss said. “It’s the final season, girls.”
