A man has been charged with murder after a mother-of-three was allegedly killed inside her home.
Irish national Annmarie O'Reilly, 30, was found injured at a property on Ferntree Gully Road in Ferntree Gully, east Melbourne, at 10am on Friday.
Despite attempts by emergency services, Ms O'Reilly could not be saved.
Patrick Stokes, who is known to Ms O'Reilly, was arrested later that day and charged with one count of murder on Saturday.
The 45-year-old fronted Melbourne Magistrates' Court and was remanded to appear in February.
Ms O'Reilly's brother Jimmy took to Facebook to share a heartbreaking tribute.
'Really can't believe it. The nicest woman you'd meet, the best mother to her kids.

'We are devastated to learn of the desperately sad news of the untimely death of Annmarie O'Reilly,' one wrote.
'Our thoughts and prayers are with her children, her parents, Ned and Bridget, her brothers and sisters, her extended family and her friends.'
A neighbour described the alleged incident as 'awful'.
