Manchester United have been told to sign another striker before the transfer window shuts.
A humbling start to the season for Michael Carrick’s side saw them lose 2-0 at Hull City, and barely lay a glove on the newly promoted side.
Head coach Michael Carrick started his new-look midfield of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, who cost a combined £87million, but the pair were overrun.
Carlos Baleba, another midfielder, is set to sign next week in a deal worth £70m, but will arrive injured so a debut will have to wait.
Matheus Cunha started up front, with Bryan Mbeumo on the right and supported by Bruno Fernandes, but the trio struggled to create clear opportunities.
Benjamin Sesko and Marcus Rashford came off the bench, but were unable to get their team back into the game, and Owen Hargreaves feels his former team lacked a focal point up top.
"I think they could probably do with another striker option," former Man Utd and England midfielder Hargreaves told TNT Sports.
"Sesko didn't start and Cunha played a little bit deeper. He's a number 10 and he's very effective off the left.
"With Baleba coming into the team, it is a good squad and a top-four squad."
Hargreaves said United appeared most dangerous when playing on the counter-attack last season, but struggled when faced with a team sitting deep.
"Today, when they had possession of the ball, they didn't look like scoring," he added.
"I think it will be easier when the space opens up. Today there wasn't that. They have to go back to the drawing board and look at what they can do differently."
