It's that time of the year again – the transfer window is now open until September 1 and it's sure to be a busy period with clubs looking to make big signings ahead of next season.

Here are today's latest developments from Simon Jones and the Daily Mail Sport team…

Manchester United full-back Jaydan Kamason is wanted by Southampton.

The Championship side would like the 19-year-old England youth international on a permanent transfer and he is also receiving enquiries from others wanting him on loan.

Preston North End, Blackburn Rovers, Bristol City and Sheffield Wednesday have shown interest in the right-back while there are clubs abroad keen to take him.

Kamason though has a lot of admirers at Old Trafford. He was one of the academy players who excelled in the opening games of United's pre-season, particularly in the 5-0 win over Rosenborg.

He was the first player to sign scholarship forms at United after coming through the club's Emerging Talent Programme, which he joined at 10, while playing for grassroots team Stockport Vikings.

United have yet to decide on plans for his development but he looks likely to stay around Michael Carrick's squad until January.

Goalkeeper Radek Vítek has completed his move to Middlesbrough on a permanent transfer from United in a deal worth up to £14m.

Jaydan Kamason has excelled in pre-season games for United and has plenty of admirers

Atletico Madrid left-back Matteo Ruggeri has agreed to join Aston Villa. The 24-year-old Italian will cost £16m plus add-ons.

His transfer will help pave the way for Atletico to bid for Tottenham captain Cristian Romero.

The Argentine centre-back is also among names being considered by Barcelona but Atletico coach Diego Simeone hopes to convince his compatriot if they can agree on terms.

Matteo Ruggeri's move should pave the way for Cristian Romero to join Atletico Madrid
