At Love Island USA’s season eight reunion, stars Melanie Moreno and Kenzie Annis responded to claims of a friendship fallout after the show and updated where their relationship stands today.
There's still love between Melanie Moreno and Kenzie Annis.
The season eight Islanders hashed out their differences at Love Island USA's Aug. 31 reunion hosted by Ariana Madix and Andy Cohen, revealing what went wrong after Fiji, starting with when Kenzie was heard calling season eight "the Melanie show" during a livestream.
"After watching the show back, I did see that she did get a lot more air time," Kenzie reiterated of the moment. "But I would never talk s–t about her. I don't think that that is talking s–t."
Kenzie also told Melanie that during the show, "I was always there for you."
For her part, Melanie took issue with how she became a topic of conversation when she wasn't present.
"It just caught me off guard that everyone's together, and that is even a conversation," the model expressed. "I have not done anything to you."
"I feel like these little comments that I'm hearing don't add up to me," Melanie continued, adding of Kenzie's support, "Even watching the show back, I've never seen it."
She also pointed to Kenzie's boyfriend Dylan Wrona's social media activity, including his alleged liking of a post referring to Melanie, Aniya Harvey and Kayda Bosse as "birds."
"I see you liking stuff saying that we're bullying her," Melanie explained. "We never bullied you, Kenzie."
But after talking through their differences, both women admitted the chances of reconciliation weren't over.
"I still love her," the Georgia native confessed. "I feel like she's like my sister. So it hurts that she's hurt by it."
Melanie agreed, "Right now I really just want a friendship where we pour into each other outside of that crazy environment."
Indeed, the one-on-one was a long time coming thanks to rumors of a fallout triggered by Kenzie seemingly unfollowing Melanie on Instagram. Around the same time, Kenzie first acknowledged the comment about Melanie's screen time on a July 15 episode of Call Her Daddy.
Viewers first watched Melanie and Kenzie discuss their relationship during season eight episode 29, when Kenzie took issue with Melanie and partner Sincere Rhea voting for her in an elimination.
