The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has updated its Smartraveller advisories for Nepal and China to advise Australians to reconsider the need to travel to areas affected by the Himalayan border floods.
The advice for Nepal applies to areas "within 50 kilometres of the Trishuli River in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Nawalpur and Gorkha districts", citing significant infrastructure damage as well as the risk of further flooding.
The advice for China applies to Tibet's Gyirong County, warning of an ongoing risk of severe flooding and landslides.
Nepali and Chinese authorities have now partially reopened their border, the ABC understands.

The husband of an Australian woman missing after the floods in Nepal and Tibet is calling for better coordination of search efforts in the border region.
Reshma Patel, 46, is one of 11 Australians who had just completed a pilgrimage to Mount Kailash with the Isha Foundation.
The group's last-known location was at the immigration office at the Tibet-Nepal border, minutes before the disaster struck.
Her husband, Bhavin Patel, has flown into Nepal to try to search for her and he said based on phone data he believed she had crossed to Tibet, which is controlled by China.
"Our family is desperately seeking assistance to locate her," he said in a statement.
"We respectfully appeal to Australia, Nepal and China for urgent coordination and continued search efforts in the Gyirong area."
It comes after similar calls from the husband of another woman who was in the group.
