Disney has announced a Kingdom Hearts original anime series inspired by the video game series of the same name. It will air on the Disney Channel and Disney+.
Disney has partnered with game creator Tetsuya Nomura and the creative team at Square Enix on the series. It will feature a "brand-new story that will expand the universe of Kingdom Hearts while celebrating the characters that have captured the hearts of millions of fans throughout the world."
"Kingdom Hearts has captivated gamers everywhere with its unique blend of adventure and imagination," said Disney Kids & Family president Ayo Davis. "There’s something really exciting about taking a world fans have spent years exploring through the games and bringing it to life in a completely new way. And with a creative team that is working closely with the legendary Tetsuya Nomura, our new series will be unmistakably Kingdom Hearts, while giving fans a whole new way to experience the world they love."

It only counts as a Kingdom Hearts anime if it has a nonsensical subtitle and inexplicably ties into the canon.
To be honest, if they keep it simple, this might be a good way to attract new players. While KH3 and 4 are fine, a reminder that majority of the fanbase, like FF, is now old. We played KH1 over 20 years ago.
