Canada’s Camryn Rogers and Ethan Katzberg won the women’s and men’s hammer throw events, respectively, Sunday at the Diamond League stop in Chorzow, Poland.
Rogers, a Richmond, B.C., native, wowed the crowd at the massive Silesian Stadium with a winning throw of 77.09 metres on her fourth attempt. She is the reigning Olympic, world and Commonwealth Games champion.
American DeAnna Price finished second with a throw of 75.23 metres, while Italy’s Sara Fantini was third at 71.95.

Canadian hammer throw dominance continued with Nanaimo, B.C.’s Ethan Katzberg, who won the men’s event with a best throw of 82.92 metres.
Katzberg now holds Olympic, world and Commonwealth Games titles.
Germany’s Merlin Hummel finished second (81.25), while Hungary’s Bence Halász was third (79.44).

Canada’s Andre De Grasse finished sixth in a loaded men’s 100m final at the Diamond League meet in Silesia, Poland, in 9.96 seconds.
Reigning world champion Oblique Seville of Jamaica won in a meeting-record 9.83, while two-time Olympic silver medallist Kenny Bednarek of the United States was second in a season-best 9.87. Former world champion Christian Coleman finished third in 9.93.

The women’s 100m lived up to its hype, with American Melissa Jefferson-Wooden winning in a season-best 10.78 seconds. Saint Lucia’s Julien Alfred finished second in a season-best 10.83, while American star Sha’Carri Richardson, the 2023 world champion and 2024 Olympic silver medallist, was third in 10.96.

American Ethan Strand pulled off a surprise victory in the men’s 1,500m, winning in a season-best 3:30.77.
Kenyan teenager Phanuel Kipkosgei Koech finished second in 3:31.14, while American Cole Hocker was third in 3:31.16. Norwegian distance-running star Jakob Ingebrigtsen finished fourth. The two-time Olympic gold medallist recently returned from Achilles surgery at this month’s European Championships, where he won his fourth consecutive 5,000m title.
