The former Exclaim! cover star will play three Canadian shows next month before jetting off to Asia in October

Former Exclaim! cover star Jeremy Dutcher is joining legendary Chinese-American cellist Yo-Yo Ma for a series of Japanese and Taiwanese gigs this fall.

The acclaimed Wolastoqiyik artist will play three Canadian shows in Toronto (to raise funds for the 25 First Nations communities across Canada that were actively impacted by wildfires), Brandon, MB, and Calgary next month before jetting off to Asia in October. With Yo-Yo Ma, they'll play shows in Taiwan and Japan before Dutcher heads over to France for two more gigs before the year ends.

"The performance will be a journey through rupture and repair, from Shostakovich's raw accounting of humanity at its most destructive to a celebration of indigenous knowledge a path to reweaving the fabric of our planetary future," Yo-Yo Ma wrote on Instagram.

Dutcher has also shared a reimagined version of his beloved composition "Ultestakon" as a part of the Kyoto Sessions, where he plays inside a century-old traditional Japanese home. You can check it out, as well as his tour schedule, below.
