Ex-Top Gear presenter James May has said his former co-host Jeremy Clarkson is “over the hurdle” following his cancer diagnosis.
Clarkson, 66, revealed he had been diagnosed with “aggressive” prostate cancer, which had been discovered early, during an episode of his reality show Clarkson’s Farm.
In a subsequent interview with The Sunday Times, Clarkson said that a PSA test in April revealed no indication of cancer and he is in remission.
Speaking to Matt Allwright on 5, May was asked how Clarkson was doing and said: “Oh he’s fine as far as I can tell.
“I spoke to him a couple of weeks ago, and I think he’s over the hurdle.”
The pair appeared together alongside presenter Richard Hammond on the hit BBC motoring programme Top Gear between 2002 and 2015.
The trio later launched The Grand Tour on Amazon Prime which ran from 2016 until 2024.
Clarkson’s prostate cancer diagnosis prompted thousands of men to check their own risk of the disease with more than 50,000 people using the charity Prostate Cancer UK’s online risk checker in the week after he went public.
The diagnosis came almost two years after Clarkson underwent a heart procedure, which saw him fitted with two stents to improve blood flow to the heart.
