Netflix’s much-anticipated reveal of in-game footage from the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI is finally here after a crash of the streaming app nearly derailed the release.
Even though the game is not set to go on sale until November 19, fans finally got a look at the footage Thursday and seemed to be impressed.
“GTA 6 is going to be the greatest game of all time,” one person wrote on X while another said, “GTA 6 might be the best-looking game I’ve ever seen. The lighting is INCREDIBLE. Glad I avoided all of the leaks. That extended look blew me away.”
Many social media users initially reported that their wait continues after the streamer buckled under the pressure.
One X user wrote: “GTA page on Netflix is down! Managed to access it for 10 seconds, got to see the preview of it and from what I saw, well let's just say the gameplay looks gorgeous!”
Another added a pained reaction GIF and said: “GTA VI trailer extended look is here but Netflix crashed and the video is lagging.”
A third added simply: “Bro Netflix is not working.”
Netflix had earlier talked up the gameplay reveal, with Brandon Riegg, VP of Nonfiction Series, saying in a statement: “Grand Theft Auto reveals have become cultural moments in their own right. The anticipation and fandom around Grand Theft Auto VI is unprecedented, and we’re honored that Rockstar Games has partnered with us to debut the next part of the Grand Theft Auto story with Netflix members first.”
He added: “It’s a reflection of what we hope Netflix is becoming: a place where the most ambitious storytelling, from any medium, can find the biggest possible audience.”

Earlier this week Rockstar Games, the developers of the game, spoke out after a series of dramatic leaks.
The company appeared to confirm that the “heartbreaking” leaks were legitimate and apologized to players that they had been introduced to the upcoming game through the footage.
In recent days, clips and photos showing both gameplay and cutscenes from GTA 6 have appeared online, from a group calling itself Cyberleek. They showed detailed footage from inside the game and some of the videos appeared to suggest that the leakers had actual access to the game itself.
