In Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto franchise, players have been able to walk the streets while armed to the teeth without attracting attention from the non-player characters populating the world. However, the NPCs in Grand Theft Auto 6 will be considerably more preceptive than their counterparts in the earlier games. And that means packing weapons in public is going to come at a price.

According to a GTA 6 preview in The New York Times, “a player in this one cannot whip out a shotgun or a rocket launcher and walk down the street without expecting the non-player characters to call the police.”

As disclosed in Netflix’s extended GTA 6 preview special, the game has restored the six-star Wanted level to the franchise. Presumably players will get into more trouble for firing a rocket launcher than simply holding one. But allowing the NPCs to behave more realistically to potential threats adds a new aspect that players will have to consider going forward.

Although the apparent vocal stylings of the game’s male antihero, Jason, have been negatively received, players have praised GTA 6’s ability to interact with dogs and its potentially complex love story between Jason and his co-lead, Lucia.

GameSpot has put together a comprehensive roundup of everything we learned from Netflix’s GTA 6 preview. Among the highlights are the expanded map size and a Red Dead Redemption 2-like honor system that keeps track of how the players behave in the game.

Grand Theft Auto 6 will be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19.
