A fabricated statement attributed to Taylor Swift has fuelled a viral cheating hoax involving her husband, Travis Kelce, despite the absence of credible evidence supporting the allegation.
The rumour began with an X post claiming Swift had ended her marriage after allegedly discovering the Kansas City Chiefs star with an unidentified 21-year-old Brazilian woman at a hotel. The post presented its text as comments made by Swift during an Instagram livestream.
However, no verified recording of such a broadcast has emerged. The post also relied on an apparently manipulated photograph in which another woman had been inserted into an existing image of Swift and Kelce.
The post alleged that Kelce told Swift he was leaving to play American football but instead met the woman at a hotel. It included a lengthy statement supposedly delivered by Swift about feeling betrayed and refusing to give him another chance.
The account did not provide a date or location for the alleged hotel encounter. It also failed to identify the woman through reliable documentation or explain how the information had supposedly been obtained.
No hotel records, witness accounts or independently verified photographs were offered to support the allegation.
The claim nevertheless spread across social media, with reposts presenting the purported statement as genuine rather than tracing it back to a single unverified account.
An image circulated with the allegation appeared to show Kelce beside the unidentified woman. However, the photograph appears to have been altered from an existing picture of Swift and Kelce.
The additional figure looks to have been digitally inserted into the frame. The post offered no original, uncropped photograph, photographer credit or information about when and where the image was supposedly taken.
That manipulation removes the picture's value as evidence. It does not establish that Kelce met the woman or that the claimed hotel encounter happened.
The post also included a short video showing handwritten notebooks. Those materials did not prove that Swift wrote the alleged statement or connect Kelce to an affair.
The allegation claimed Swift announced the separation through Instagram Live, but no matching announcement appeared on her verified social accounts. Major news organisations and established entertainment publications also did not report an authenticated statement from Swift or her representatives confirming a breakup.
Neither Swift nor Kelce had publicly addressed the viral allegation at the time of writing. Their silence does not authenticate the post or provide evidence for its claims.
The rumour also conflicts with their most recent confirmed public appearances. Kelce described their July wedding as the 'best night of my life' during a press conference in August. He subsequently appeared at a Chiefs preseason game wearing his wedding ring. Swift was also photographed wearing her wedding band while attending an event in England.
