Matthew Potts has taken 52 wickets in Division Two this campaign
England fast bowler Matthew Potts has signed a three-year contract extension with Durham.
The deal will keep the 27-year-old seamer at Chester-le-Street until at least the end of the 2029 season and will extend an association that started with Potts joining the pathway programme aged nine.
Potts has been a standout performer in Durham's charge to what looks set to be a comfortable promotion to Division One at the end of this campaign.
The seamer has taken more wickets than anyone in either of the two divisions this season with 52 victims so far at an average of 17.98.
In total Potts has 376 wickets across 141 matches for the club, having taken over 450 scalps in his career.
Potts has also claimed 50 wickets in 24 matches for England across all three formats on the international stage.
"I feel like I still have a lot more to give to this club," Potts told the Durham website, external. "I owe the club a hell of a lot from early investment through the academy and I hold it dear.
"We are building something within the dressing room, it's taken a couple of years, but I feel like we're heading in the right direction. This group is really exciting."
Potts added: "We have a few games left this year and we want to finish as Division Two champions.
"Next year we want to be pushing to try and win Division One which is the ultimate goal for any county cricketer, and I think this group has the potential to do so."
