An investigation is underway after a woman was found dead late last week at a popular natural attraction in the Texas Hill Country.

Authorities were notified at around 3 p.m. Thursday of a possible death at the Enchanted Rock State Natural Area, according to KXAN. A 59-year-old East Texas woman was found dead on a trail on the west side of the park.

Officials with the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (TPWD) told KXAN her cause of death was undetermined and an investigation led by the Texas State Parks Police is underway. The agency did not immediately respond to Chron's request for comment on Sunday.

An autopsy has been ordered to assist in determining the cause of death, the Llano County Sheriff's Office, which also responded to the scene, told the Daily Trib. Foul play is not suspected.

Several other agencies, including the Gillespie County Sheriff's Office, Hamilton EMS, Llano County Emergency Management and the Willow City Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the incident, according to KXAN.

The death marks the second reported so far this year at the popular hiking area. In May, an 81-year-old woman was found dead at Enchanted Rock after getting lost on the Loop Trail, according to KSAT.

The park, located about 18 miles north of Fredericksburg and bordered by Gillespie and Llano counties, sees more than 250,000 visitors each year, making it one of the most visited parks in the state's park system, according to TPWD. The natural area includes nearly 21 miles of hiking trails.
